Van Groen works hard but gets less attention than some of his other team mates. Originally from Amsterdam but now living in Brabant, Van Groen is a fast rider and good attacker giving him second place in the Westfriese Dorpenomloop, the Star of Zwolle and the Round of Mid-Brabant. He was one of the first riders contracted by Vacansoleil in 2008 and has developed into highly regarded member of the team. The sprinter, who completed an HBO in business mathematics, works hard for the team and is hoping to be a part of a front group in 2010.
